Honestly, does any testimonial on TV persuade a viewer to purchase an item that looks like bull shit anyway? It’s all scripted. It always has been scripted. So what is the difference between a professional voice-over and a scripted “real” person with no “voice talent” skills talking? None.
I actually had a client hand me a script that was so bad (and had no mention of the business name until the end of the script) that I had to speak up and “suggest” changes to this 1st grade written script. The client then said, “I paid for this commercial, I’ll read what I want.”
